Meet the Artist:
Bernadette Scott
Bernadette Scott is Haudenosaunee (Seneca), a member from the Deer Clan on the Cattaraugus Territory in New York. - “I continue to share and teach traditional Seneca (no-face) cornhusk dolls and flowers to anyone willing to learn, especially the young and elders because I feel it’s my responsibility to carry on what I’ve been taught from my Grandma Lillian Kane. I am thankful I can continue to carry on my family’s tradition. Nya:weh “

About Our Demonstrations -
We Braid History with Hands-on Learning!
At our workshops we provide all the materials (cornhusk, sinew, and fun!) for anyone who wants to learn! Each class runs for about 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes, where YOU can learn the basics of cornhusk doll making with a side of history. In our tent, we prioritize your learning and comfort, you’ll be taken back to a time when there was no Barbie or G.I. Joe, where the only dolls (or action-figures) around were made by hand. The Cornhusk doll was much more than just a toy for children, and when you attend our demonstration you will learn the story of The Cornhusk Doll!
